The following screenshots are a preview of how the new software will appear during download and after installation on your computer. 

When you have been provided with the link to this software the following dialog box will appear. 

Click "Run"

The next box will show you the progress of the download. The time represented here is at 50.6 kbps on a dialup connection.  

When this box appears next, click "Run" again.

The following box begins the installation process. Click "Next".

After reading the user agreement, click "I Agree".

Accept the destination folder. Just click "Install".

The next is just an installation progress box.

When this box appears hit "Finish".

 The software can now be opened from Start/All Programs/SeaSources/Test Taker. 

After clicking on "Test Taker", the following will appear. If you have an internet connection click "ok".

  Which brings us to this box. Here is where you must enter your User Name and Password that you use to get into the online study site.  If you do not have a UN/PW, you must create an account for the SeaSources Online Study to get them. This information is needed to retrieve your data from the server. 

When you have entered the info, click "OK" again.

This screen verifies your already established online study account. "ok"

  If your User Name/Password are accepted, you are into the new software, and the following screen will appear. Here you should first try taking a remote test. What this will do is simply hook you up to the server and you will be able to take all the tests just as you would in the online testing site.

After returning to "Test Taker", when you click "Take a Remote Test" the following will come up with the same choices that are in the existing online test site.

Choose the Category

Choose the Subject

Choose the Quiz.

Take the Test

Taking a local or "Installed" Test.

  When you click on "Take a Test" for the first time, You will see this dialog informing you that their are not any modules installed on your computer yet. Click "OK" then click on "Download Test Modules"

 After you click on "Download Test Modules", This screen will show you what you have available to download and install on your computer. These will be determined by whether you have had previously purchases modules from SeaSources or if you wish to purchase other modules they will be added to your list and will be visible here when you come back to this page. Remember that the whole purpose of this new system is that these quizzes are "installed". You do not need to be online to take the quizzes and they run faster than the online quizzes.  They are thus portable, so to speak, and can be added to and upgraded from anywhere you can get online. The three marked with the blue dot are free samples. As you can see in this screenshot the "Lifesaving" module has been installed already.

   In this example, I have chosen to download "Rules of the Road (Inland Only)" then clicked "Download Module". The progress screen below then appears to install all the questions, answers, and illustrations that are associated with that module on your computer. After complete click "OK".

You will be taken back to the main page where you click "Take a Test".

  Now, this screen shows that you have the Rules of the Road (Inland Only) installed on your computer. All modules that have been downloaded and installed will show up in this pull down list. Choose the module to test on and click "Take Quiz"

On this screen I have chosen quiz #2 out on 9 quizzes for Rules of the Road (Inland Only).

  The answer can be selected either by mouse or keyboard.   Hit "Enter" or click anywhere to proceed to the next question. Notice that the illustrations show up on the same page if there is one present with a question instead of popping up in a new window like the old online study. You can scroll down to see the entire illustration.

When you select an incorrect answer the correct choice will be highlighted. Remember it for next time.

At the end of the quiz your score for that quiz is shown. The complete score history and progress reports will be added to this software shortly and will upgrade to that automatically when it is available.
