If
This Is Your First Visit to SeaSources, Please Read Below before
Entering the Online Study Room.
As you navigate through this site, whether for the purpose of
studying for a Coast Guard exam, to review or sharpen your nautical
skills, or just to keep the Rules of the Road, Colregs, fresh in your mind,
you will be introduced to over 28,000 questions and answers covering
all categories of subject matter for both Deck and Engine Room used by
the United States Coast Guard for license examination. All related illustrations, over 1000 at last
count, which are used in reference to the questions are included and
can be seen by clicking on "diagram" when it is
present during a quiz. All of the online quizzes are presented in an
easy to use point and click multiple choice format.
Join the
hundreds of SeaSources users who have successfully prepared for their
Coast Guard exam in the online
study room.
The new SeaSources online testing site is now
available with the Score History as well as many other new
features which we hope will make studying for your exams enjoyable as
well as more affordable. All of the individual subject modules listed on the
left are
available for download directly from the online test site as well as free
upgrades whenever any changes or additions are made to questions or
illustrations. Anyone who has
previously purchased SeaSources software will be eligible for free upgrades
to their modules which were purchased on CD or downloaded.
As
you work through the quizzes you will find that there are some questions that
are very similar in content but may vary slightly in the wording. Work through
them anyway. These are not randomly
generated quizzes. This is the only site where you will find that the questions are categorized into their specific subjects
for targeted study as is displayed in the column on the left. After two or three times through a quiz you will see your
scores rapidly improve. Move on to the next quiz and repeat the process. Check your score history frequently to see where you may need to work harder.
Note: You will not receive a recorded score to your history for each quiz unless you
complete the
quiz.
For new users
of SeaSources online study, just click on
Enter Online Study Room
above and go to
Create a New User Account, fill out the registration information accurately
and enter a user name and password. Your password will be
mailed to you directly for your records. Remember that the user name and
password are case sensitive. The registration information is
necessary for the score keeping and progress reports, which are now available
in the new test site, and allow registered members to see a history of their scores and
progress on all previous quizzes taken. After you are in the system you can alter your personal
information and password. All personal information and e-mail addresses are kept
strictly confidential and are not given out to mailing lists nor do we use
addresses to bombard you with useless Spam. You may, however, occasionally
receive an e-mail from SeaSources informing you of any updates connected to the
online study.
If you do not receive your password directly then
e-mail
me and I will send it to you manually as soon as I can.
Note:
If your personal user account is being accessed by multiple users it would be
more to their advantage to create their own account in order to receive the benefits
of having their own personal score history attached to the quizzes
they take.
Our database is
being edited and updated frequently as well as more subjects and illustrations
added to make this site a reliable source of information for all members to use as a
supplement to there exam preparation study or general knowledge. Many new illustrations have
been added to the database that are excerpts from the material needed to solve specific
questions. Rules of the Road and Aids to Navigation are good examples of this. One of our goals is to eventually have a solution or reference illustration
to each question. This is what makes this service unique. Anyone who would like
to participate by submitting illustrations or solutions to be attached to
questions are welcome to do so. Just ask for details on how to submit them.
Mariners working together can make this site one of the most powerful tools on
the web for fellow mariners. Group participation is highly encouraged! Get
involved.
Any
discrepancies that a user may find, as in answers that they believe are
disputable, should be reported so that corrections can be
researched and entered. Please report any problems or suggestions to
comments@seasources.net
or post in the discussion forum.
Older
versions of Netscape may have problems accessing quizzes. Consider upgrading or
using Microsoft Internet Explorer
5.5 or higher. For I.E. 6.0 uses, The illustrations will
be viewed best if you temporarily Disable
the auto resize on your browser.
SeaSources.net
was originally founded in 1996 for the purpose
of providing an affordable alternative to the outrageous cost of exam preparation for
mariners sitting for their first license or document as well as professionals seeking to upgrade.
